Ibiza is an island best known for its nightclubs, beach parties and late night bars, but the island is home to so much more than that, with its rolling hills, serene mountain views and historic architecture that spans through Roman and Arab influence all the way to 13th century Catalan and ultra modern minimalist villas that contrast neatly with the greens and blues of the islands wildlife. The airport is conveniently located 7km away from Ibiza Town, it is the gateway to the Balearic Islands and a perfect base to begin your holiday of exploration on the traditional side of Ibiza. You can compare hundreds of car rental deals in Ibiza right here on the Car Rentals Network website, just select the car and any extras you might need and click book. It couldn't be easier.
Ibiza Airport - The Facts
Ibiza Airport - A Short Guide
Ibiza’s reputation as a party destination has sadly blinded many tourists to the beauty of the island, many of them avoiding it because they aren’t necessarily looking for a party destination. But when you arrive on the island, armed with a passion for travel and a trusty car hire to get around, you’ll be rewarded with numerous great attractions and beautiful sights to take in. There’s an old quarter in Ibiza Town that’s great to just wonder around, drinking a coffee and taking in the atmosphere and the countryside on the island in spring and summer time is awash with colour, with beautiful flora and fauna to explore. If you’re a fan of the exploits of Christopher Columbus then a quick visit to The Egg of Columbus, a monument to him that can be found in Sant Antoni de Portmany.
One upside of Ibiza’s status as a party destination is the travel options. Flying from the UK, and from the rest of Europe gives you almost unlimited options so you can fly direct from the UK or from most other major cities within Europe. For example. you can fly to Ibiza airport from most airports in the UK with a range of services including British Airways, Iberia and all the usual budget options such as Easyjet and Ryanair. It’s also a popular destination for tour operators, and though many of the destinations available to fly from and to are purely seasonal - such as Dublin, London Gatwick (with British Airways) and Prague, you can easily reach Ibiza from Barcelona, Paris and London city airport outside of the peak seasons. From Ibiza airport, you can reach Ibiza Town in less than 30 minutes by car, and you can pick up your rental car with ease at the airport. Simply locate the car hire companies on the back wall of the arrivals hall and pick up your car. We do recommend pre-booking online with Car Rentals Network as far in advance as possible, as not only are the rates cheaper that way, but you’ll also have much more choice too. You'll also be able to avoid the lengthy queues at the airport.
There are no air bridges at the airport to the terminal so you’ll need to go from the airport steps to the staircases that will lead you up to the arrivals level. After you’ve picked up your luggage you’ll pass through the lengthy arrivals hall, where you’ll find everything from the car rental offices to cafe’s, bars and tourist information points where you’ll be able to get any info you need about the airport and even things like directions and brochures. The airport has some great facilities in the departure lounge too, so on departure you can expect to be greeted by a large shopping area, not unlike the larger European airports, selling everything from high fashions, gifts and souvenirs through to electrical equipment and books. The airport lounge is also a good spot to have your last bit of Spanish food before you fly back out of the country. If you want to update people on your departure, you’ll also find wi-fi throughout the airport and of course a good selection of bars so you can calm your nerves with a quick drink before the flight. |
